PSU Comedian

A few weeks ago, I went with some friends to the McCurdy Comedy Theatre in Sarasota, Florida.

I was initially worried that my aphasia would prevent me from understanding what the comedians were saying. Sometimes, their delivery is too fast, and I struggle to follow along. However, I checked out the comedy act’s website beforehand and found the headliner, Mike Paramore. I watched a few of his sets on YouTube and found him to be funny and easy to understand.

Once we arrived at the theatre, we enjoyed some snacks and drinks. There were three comedians performing that night. The first comedian was just okay.

The second comedian was Adam Yenser, an Emmy Award-winning writer and comedian. For ten years, he was a writer on *The Ellen DeGeneres Show*, where he appeared in segments like “Kevin the Cashier Played by Adam” and “Adam Investigates.” He has also appeared on *Conan*, *FOX Laughs*, and *Gutfeld*. Additionally, he was a freelance contributor to SNL’s *Weekend Update*, wrote for The Oscars, and co-produced the web series *Laugh Lessons with Kevin Nealon*. Adam headlines comedy clubs, festivals, corporate events, and even cruise ships, blending sharp observational humor with a unique perspective on politics. His sketches have been featured by *The Babylon Bee*, and he hosts his own satirical YouTube show, *The Cancelled News*. His stand-up special, *Adam Yenser: Not Big Enough to Cancel*, is available on Dry Bar Comedy.

He began his set by mentioning that he lives in California but grew up in Pennsylvania and attended Penn State. I cheered and shouted, “We Are…” and he immediately responded with “Penn State!” After the show, I had a chance to find him and talk for a few minutes about our shared connection to Penn State.

As always, it was great to connect with another fellow Penn Stater!
